Stonnall Road Bail Hostel – update
September 3, 2007Myself and the other five councillors for Aldridge, along with the MP Richard Shepherd, are pressing for Stonnall Road Bail Hostel to be put back on the agenda. We met with the Head of the West Midlands Probation Service and they agreed with us that the Bail Hostel needs to be moved. They are going to actively work with the Council on finding an alternative site. Then funding will have to be found from central Government, and then planning permission granted.
I hope we have generated some momentum to move this onto the next phase although I wouldn’t get overly excited about it happening quickly. Still hopefully it is the beginning of the end for the Bail Hostel in Stonnall Road.

Regarding the Aldridge bail hostel are there any ongoing petitions or action currently been taken by youself, other councillor’s or Richard Shepard to close this facility.
I am a local resident in Clifton Avenue, an incident occurred in Druids Avenue on Thursday afternoon 28th August 2008 with a resident of the hostel and a young girl. The police were called and the man arrested and sent back to jail to finish his sentance.
I went to the hostel the follwing night to see the manager who was not on duty and left my number for them to contact me. No response as yet!.
I am reliably informed that the hostel only houses sex offenders who are free to roam our streets.
I consider the incident on Thursday a warning shot and worse is to follow.

We are being told that a high profle paedophile is being housed in Stonnal Rd Bail Hostel – do we have legal rights to find out more information – ie: Sarahs law ?
