The winter viruses!

December 10, 2008

Annoyingly for me I am tucked up in bed waiting for this virus and temperature to subside. I hate sitting around doing nothing so it’s driving me mad. It means i’ve missed and will probably miss a few meetings this week. However I know that at Development Control last night plans to build apartments on the site of old St John’s school were approved and enforcement action will be taken against the illegal car wash at Shire Oak PH.

I’ve got some photos from last week’s tree dedication to put up too.

Updates from around the ward

December 1, 2008

Today I was pleased to be invited to open the new community rooms at Walsall Wood JMI. They will provide a good facility for the community so if you want to hold meetings or find somewhere to rent for an event it’s worth having a look at. Contact through the school.

Also Richard Shepherd MP will be joining us for the dedication of Walsall Wood’s Christmas tree and lights. Please come and join us at 4pm this Friday at St John’s Church. The vicar is providing the tea and coffee and i’m getting the mince pies in!

Finally three highways updates:

- Concerns regarding cycling issues within Castle Road are being addressed and officers will provide me with an update shortly.

- The poor condition of Commonside has been acknowledged by the Council and it will be included in the programme for resurfacing in 2009/2010. If any other roads need resurfacing then please let me know and i’ll try and get them included in the next budget year.

- The HGV survey has now been completed in Lazy Hill Road, Aldridge. This data will now be analysed and the implications assessed and reported back to the ward councillors.
