Hi Mike
I wondered if you might have the time to give your views on a couple of issues that are having an impact on the residents in Beechtree Road, Walsall Wood?
I suppose the main issue is the re-occurring youth gatherings and associated niussance on the corner of Beech tree and Brookland road. I have seen as many as twenty at a time gathered around the bench and bus stop drinking alcohol, eating chips and then littering on a regular basis. This has escalated into burning stolen cars on the park, the regular riding of mini moto’s along the street.
Its the usual suspects, if you dare say anything its verbal abuse or our homes and cars targetted for any manner of damage. The area is looking more like a war zone daily!
Do H2 OCU actualy Police our neighbourhood?…. i mean actualy police it and being in the job i know what level of service we are not getting! I dont think i have seen a panda for ages let alone a PCSO, special or a PC.
The rise in anti-social behaviour at this location suggests to me that there has been some displacement via an operation or high viz policing elsewhere…oak park? salters road? well can the H2 police spend some time stop checking, confiscating alcohol off the under age and displace them somewhere else?
The council do, do a good job litter picking, the thing is it is a wasted effort to some extent as no sooner is it sanitised… the litter is back due to the numbers of youths that congregate there. The area just at the rear of the bus stop acts like a big goal net catching all the rubbish and debris that the wind picks up… its quite an eyesore.
I am interested to know if the local government has any funding to improve the area in general? Area’s such as coalpool, and Bloxwich seem to cream off so much through re generation and yet walsall wood doesnt seem to feature in anything, the recreation facility and other public utilities are out dated or vandalised, the whole area seems daggy and needs a makeover.
The Landfill site is almost full and i understand that there was a certain fund pledged for the walsall wood community in recompense for its effects…. has anything been ear marked? Like wise i understand that the site is moving location to the other quarry further down and that the same applies to that so will walsall wood benifit?
Finaly Accord housing and its planning application for the old Dr’s surgery… I assumed that once their last application was thrown out at the appeal that they might have the decency to review their plans and take into account the concerns and views of the community… alas Accord wouldn’t even acknowledge the residents group.
Now it seems they are back, revised plan or not the area is still the same as is the general feeling of the area i might add. I understand you have spoken to Mr Ian Fenn already, needless to say you are aware of the areas determination to object to the plans and fight Accord. There has been a history of shady dealings and inapropriate conduct shadowing this application from the out set.
Id like to think we can count on some support from you to act as an informed voice?
Any information or views on the above would be appreciated.
Thanks and Best regards
Tony West
